LA Lakers ink Andrew Bogut to a 1 year deal

The LA Lakers have signed Australian big man, and NBA veteran Andrew Bogut to a one year deal worth $2.3 million. The defensive specialist has recovered from a fractured leg which occurred in his first game for the Cleveland Cavaliers last season.

At face value, this is a solid move for the Lakers. They receive a veteran locker room presence on a young up and coming squad featuring Julius Randle, Brandon Ingram and rookie Lonzo Ball; not to mention a defensive anchor and one of the best in the league at locking down the interior when healthy.

However, Bogut will almost certainly not be starting ahead of one of the Lakers newest additions in Brook Lopez; nor will he see the floor ahead of Center Ivica Zubac, who showed real promise last season. Expect Bogut to play a lesser role than what we were used to seeing when he was at Golden State; although if he can avoid injury, he figures to be a defensive menace inside the paint.
